With Delphi 2009 literally just around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to see how it’s impending release is being viewed.

As a result, the poll answers are a little wordy this week for which I apologise, but I thought it would be interesting to try and gauge a detailed view of how people view the new version and how it will impact them.

Last weeks results were interesting (Poll Archives are now available!).

Again, with the caveat that my sample is obviously limited to people visiting my blog, Delphi 2007 is the most widely used Delphi version, with Delphi 2006 languishing a long way behind (only half the users) Delphi 6/7 and only slightly ahead of Delphi 4/5.

I suspect that Delphi 4/5 – and older – are still hanging on to support legacy applications in the majority of cases, but it bodes well for Delphi 2009 that the current version of Delphi does appear to be riding a wave of renewed interest in our favourite native code development language.

  1. Well, I will be getting Tirburon via SA, and will be using it for new products.

But what I’m much less sure of is how, when and IF to port existing products to Tiburon. We have plenty of 3rd party dependencies and possible file format compatibility issues to worry about…
